In 2006, Rudy Andrea was amazed at the level of participation by Kohl’s at the GREAT STRIDES walk in Collin County. Kohl’s showed up with 54 walkers from various Kohl’s stores in the area. They were all dressed in their Kohl’s Care shirts, and all came with smiles and cheers for everyone. They definitely had quite a presence! Overall Kohl’s raised $4,000 for GREAT STRIDES and cystic fibrosis that year, meaning that over 8 different stores were in attendance to participate.

Rudy Andrea decided to make a promise to Kohl’s…if they would come back and participate in 2007, he would match whatever they raised dollar for dollar! Kohl’s accepted the challenge and Rudy took it a step further and got close friend and fellow CF board member Dick Bowman to throw some matching money in the pot as well. Overall in 2007, Kohl’s, Dick and Rudy were able to raise $17,500 for GREAT STRIDES and cystic fibrosis. It is partnership and innovative people like these that really keep the momentum going for vital CF research.
